Five Community Radio Stations in Bangladesh have been awarded NIMC Media Awards 2022 in Audio Category for their contribution to innovation in the five tools of Strategic Communication for Good Governance at the community level. Ms. Umee Nishi, Assistant Station Manager of Radio Meghna selected for the award on drama about RTI. The Award competition was organized by the National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh under the Platforms for Dialogue (P4D) Project.

The other wining stations are Community Radio Padma 99.2FM (Rajshahi), Community Radio Pollikontha 99.2FM (Moulvibazar), Community Radio Jhenuk 99.2 (Jhenaidah) and Community Radio Borendro 99.2FM ( Naogaon)

The five tools of the Strategic Communication for Good Governance are – National Integrity Strategy (NIS), Citizen Charter, Grievance Redress System (GRS), Right To Information (RTI), and Annual Performance Agreement (APA).

Earlier, Community Radio Stations of the country participated and submitted altogether radio programs in the competition. The formats of the radio programs were Public Service Announcement (PSA)/ Community Service Announcement (CSA), Drama, Reporting, Documentary, Magazine, Interview and Discussion.

Now 19 Community Radio Stations are on-air in the country, aiming to ensure Good Governance for the rural community. They are broadcasting altogether 200 hours of programs per day on information, education, local entertainment, and development motivation activities. Around 1000 Youth Women & Youth are now working with those Stations throughout the country as rural broadcasters among 9.1 million rural people in 121 upazillas under 16 districts in Bangladesh.
